Edwin Bonner was born and educated in South Africa, qualifying as a dental surgeon in 1967. Since arriving in the UK in 1967, he has had more than 49 years’ experience as a dental practitioner.
Returning to South Africa in 1980, Edwin qualified as a specialist Prosthodontist in 1985 and spent eight years as a lecturer/ tutor/mentor to under- and post-graduate students.
Afterwards he spent over 30 years as a specialist prosthodontist in the UK.
Edwin’s dento-legal career began in 1985 when he was briefed by the pre-eminent medicolegal law practice in South Africa, Malcolm Lyons and Munro, for whom he prepared over 250 reports.
After returning to the UK in 1989, he has been briefed by many UK solicitors and legal firms.
Over the past 25 years, he has prepared more than 2,500 expert reports, quantified injuries, and given court testimony regarding individuals who have suffered personal injury or negligence, in respect of teeth, head and neck.
Eight years ago, Edwin Bonner was appointed as a Local Dental Advisor to Dental Protection Ltd, the dental division of Medical Protection. He has since undergone extensive training with Dental Protection and appeared as an advisor and expert witness in General Dental Council hearings.
Edwin Bonner currently works full-time, doing only dento-legal work.
His hobbies include yoga, creative writing and Latin & ballroom dancing.
